After a decade of performing and refining his craft alongside some of the world’s most celebrated choreographers, Dickson Mbi chose to deepen his artistic inquiry by beginning a master’s degree in choreography at London Contemporary Dance School in September 2015. As he neared the completion of his MA in spring 2017, he was awarded a Trailblazers Starters Fellowship by One Dance UK Dance of the African Diaspora team, an opportunity that introduced him to producer Farooq Chaudhry OBE.

Their first meeting, held in the café of the Renaissance Hotel in St Pancras, sparked a conversation that would lay the foundation for a powerful creative partnership. This collaboration ultimately led to the founding of Dickson Mbi Company in 2018.
Drawing from his early training in the street dance form of popping, as well as the contemporary and traditional dance languages he encountered throughout his career, Dickson forged a distinct choreographic voice, driven by a desire to unite, connect, and create through the human experience, with works that reflect our times and the human condition.

Supported by a world-class team of creative collaborators across the visual and performing arts, Dickson and the company remain committed to crafting authentic, uncompromising work for everyone, across every culture and on the world’s most prestigious stages.

The natural evolution of the company, from an artist-led organisation to a multi-channel performance company with the three pillars of dance, music, and Fiyahouse (artist development & mentoring). Marks a new chapter of growth, deepening its artistic journey and strengthening its commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists through its mentoring programmes.
